How to Play Puppet Maker
Start by choosing a brush color and size, then draw the puppet's open-eye design on the canvas. Select Next Step to move through the five drawing stages: open eyes, closed eyes, a closed mouth, an open mouth, and hair or decorations. Use the faded reference layer to line up each expression with your puppet's face. If you want to redo a stage, choose Clear to erase its drawing, or use Back to revisit an earlier step. When your design is ready, select Animate! to open the performance stage. Hold Close Eyes to switch to your closed-eye drawing and hold Open Mouth to show the talking expression; you can use both controls together. Tap Wiggle for a shake, choose Voice FX to cycle through pitch options, or drag the puppet to make it sway. Select Edit Puppet whenever you want to make changes. Mouse and touch controls are supported.
Tips & Tricks for Puppet Maker
Give each drawing stage a clear purpose: keep the open and closed eyes easy to tell apart, and make the two mouth shapes distinct so the puppet's expressions read during a performance. Use the reference layer to keep features aligned, especially when switching between eye and mouth designs. Try a thicker brush for bold details and a smaller one for delicate decorations; Clear lets you experiment without restarting the whole puppet. In the performance stage, hold the eye and mouth controls together to combine expressions, then drag the puppet gently for a more controlled sway. Test different Voice FX pitches to match your character's mood. Ready to sketch something else? browse creative tools for your next character-making idea.
