Symphony Sketchpad

Made by

elise

What if your doodles could sing? Symphony Sketchpad is an interactive music drawing game where every stroke becomes part of a looping melody. Draw across the glowing grid to shape notes: higher marks create higher pitches, while lower marks bring deeper sounds. Your line's position also sets when each note plays as the scanner sweeps across the canvas. Choose piano, trumpet, harmonica, crystal bell, or cymbals, and hear your idea take shape as you draw. No sheet music or music lessons are needed; the pentatonic scale helps keep your experiments harmonious. Play Symphony Sketchpad online, try a demo melody, then add your own creative twist. How to Play Symphony Sketchpad

1. Choose an instrument from the panel below the canvas. Try Harmonica, Trumpet, Crystal Bell, Piano, or Cymbals; each button plays a short preview so you can pick a sound you like. 2. Press and drag with your mouse or finger across the grid to draw a line. The canvas's vertical position controls pitch, and its horizontal position controls when the sound is triggered in the loop. You can hear a sliding tone while you draw. 3. Release to leave your glowing stroke on the canvas. Add more lines to build a melody, or select Demo Melody to see and hear a ready-made example. 4. Tap the green play button to start the scanner. As it passes over your strokes, their instrument sounds play again, with matching visual effects. Tap the button again to pause. 5. Use Undo Stroke to remove your latest mark or Clear Canvas to start fresh. Select Share to share your music doodle, or Reference to view the guide image. Close the reference with its close button or by clicking its background.

Tips & Tricks for Symphony Sketchpad

Start with just a few strokes so you can hear how pitch and timing work together. Place a line higher on the grid for a brighter note and lower for a deeper one. Spread strokes across the canvas to give the scanner room to create a rhythmic pattern, then add shorter marks for extra variation. Try one instrument at a time before mixing colors and timbres; a crystal bell line can sparkle beside a warm piano note. Use the live drawing sound to test a curve before letting it loop, and undo freely when you want to compare ideas. Load Demo Melody whenever you need a starting point, then change its lines to make the tune your own. Ready for another hands-on experiment? find fresh drawing and sound creative tools.
