How to Play Puppet Sketch Studio
Start with the head and draw directly on the canvas using your mouse or touchscreen. Pick a color, then choose Thin, Mid, or Thick to set your brush size. Use Next Step and Previous Step to move through the seven drawing layers: head, open eyes, closed eyes, closed mouth, half-open mouth, open mouth, and accessories. Add each feature on its own layer so your puppet can change expressions when it performs. Turn on Guide to see drawing outlines and faded onion-skin references that help you line up facial details. Made a stray mark? Use Undo to remove the last stroke on the current layer, or Clear to start that layer again. When your drawing is ready, move to the puppet stage. Enter a line of up to 120 characters, choose a voice style, and adjust pitch and speed. Press Talk to hear your puppet speak with animated mouth shapes, or select Blink for a quick wink. Use Edit to return to drawing, New to begin again, and Gallery, Save, or Share to keep and show off your character.
Tips & Tricks for Puppet Sketch Studio
Give each facial feature room on its own layer. Clear, readable shapes make your puppet's expressions easier to recognize as its mouth changes while speaking. Use the onion-skin reference when drawing open and closed eyes, and compare the mouth layers before moving on. Try bold color contrasts between the head, eyes, and accessories so your design pops on stage. For a fun performance, write a short line, test different voice styles, then fine-tune pitch and speed until the character sounds just right. Save a favorite before experimenting, so you can return to that version from your Gallery. When your puppet is ready for an encore, find more hands-on character-making picks.
